Jahja Ling Celebration

08.09.09
Jahja Ling
25th Anniversary with Cleveland Orchestra

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Jahja Ling's association with The Cleveland Orchestra. We are pleased to celebrate this milestone with him as he conducts Blossom Festival concerts on August 2 and 9.

For twenty five years now, Jahja has conveyed his passion for music to Cleveland Orchestra audiences. As a member of the Conducting Staff for two decades, Jahja led the Orchestra in many distinguished and distinctive performances. He has always been of particular service to young people, founding the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra- which honored him this spring for his work as the group's founding music director. As Blossom Festival Director, Jahja led the Orchestra through six memorable summers.

This fall, Jahja begins his sixth season as music director of the San Diego Symphony. As we applaud his success in other venues around the globe, we take great pleasure in celebrating his 25th anniversary conducting The Cleveland Orchestra.

I hope that you will join us at Kulas Plaza after the August 9 concert for a
free reception, open to all, to celebrate Jahja's achievements with The Cleveland Orchestra.

Gary Hanson, Executive Director, The Cleveland Orchestra.
