No Blarney, It’s The Chieftains!

The famous Irish traditional band locks down its schedule leading up to Saint Paddy’s Day.  Promising surprise guests, The Chieftains’ winter 2014 tour includes stops in San Diego, Milwaukee, Baltimore and New York.

 

Mention The Chieftains playing dates in March and the most obvious question is, “Where will Paddy Moloney & Co. play on Saint Patrick’s Day?  This year the band will celebrate everything Irish in Newport News, Va., at the Ferguson Center March 17, the last U.S. date listed on their current itinerary.

As to those special guests set to join the band on their U.S. trek, word from The Chieftains’ camp is that details will be announced soon.

What else is the six-time Grammy-winning band planning for the winter outing?  Moloney explains:

“We’ll be revisiting our roots and incorporating some of our early traditional pieces from back when our journey began 52 years ago. We’ll also add to the group a young fiddle champion and an award winning guitarist, both from Ireland.”
