Nathan Gunn to Appear in the Metropolitan Opera's Live HD Broadcast of ROMEO ET JULIETTE

The Metropolitan Opera kicks off it's second annual"Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD" series on Saturday, December 15, 2007 with Gounod's Roméo et Juliette featuring the rising star baritone Nathan Gunn as Mercutio. The performance, conducted by Plácido Domingo and starring Anna Netrebko and Roberto Alagna in the title roles, will be broadcast live in HD to over 700 movie theater and other locations around the world (300 in the US alone). The broadcasts are estimated to reach over a million viewers.

Nathan Gunn has made a reputation as one of the most exciting and in-demand baritones of the day.  Going Home, his debut album for Sony/BMG Masterworks, was met with critical acclaim, and he was recently profiled in the New York Times, the Chicago Sun-Times, and Opera News, and appeared on the Today Show and Good Moring America. He also appeared last season in the Met's first ever live HD worldwide movie theater broadcast of Die Zauberflöte. 

In between his many appearances this season with the world's greatest opera houses and orchestras -including returns to the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Glyndebourne Opera Festival, London Symphony Orchestra, and Atlanta Symphony, as well as three separate appearances in Carnegie Hall in April 2007-Mr. Gunn will also be touring with his Julie Gunn, his wife and collaborator on Going Home.
