The vocals are pristine and the instrumentals by the Chanticleer Holiday Orchestra are sublime.  But what really makes the album stand out are the arrangements, many by the group's music director, Joseph Jennings.
- San Francisco Chronicle review of Let It Snow

Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the vocal ensemble Chanticleer - winner of multiple Grammy Awards and holder of the recent 2008 Musical America Award for "Ensemble of the Year" - already has a lot to be thankful for, this holiday season.  Chanticleer's latest recording, Let It Snow, a collection of popular holiday favorites, has been a Billboard bestseller since its release on Rhino/Warner Classics in October, and is poised to move quickly up the charts, as Chanticleer continues its annual holiday tour and makes a number of high-profile media appearances.

This week, Chanticleer is in Chicago for two performances at the Fourth Presbyterian Church (Wed, 11/28 and Thurs, 11/29).  While in the Windy City, Chanticleer will stop by WFMT radio on November 29 to sing holiday fare on the station's popular "Impromptu" program, which airs locally at 5 pm.   Listeners nationwide can hear the show streamed live at http://www.wfmt.com/main.taf?p=4

Following a performance at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis (Fri, 11/30), Chanticleer heads to New York City to give six concerts in the remarkable acoustics of the Medieval Sculpture Hall at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Sun, 12/2, Tues, 12/4, and Wed, 12/5).  A critic for the New York Sun has called Chanticleer's annual performances there, "one of New York's best Christmas traditions - right up there with Santa Claus at Macy's."

Monday, December 3 will be an especially busy day for Chanticleer in the Big Apple, beginning with a return appearance on NBC's popular Today show.  Chanticleer will sing two songs from Let It Snow on the top-rated morning television show (the first song is scheduled in the 9:30 to 10:00 am slot; check local listings), before heading to SIRIUS Satellite Radio's studio to tape a special holiday program that will air later this month.  Immediately after the taping, Chanticleer head downtown for a live in-store appearance at J&R Music World (23 Park Row, across from City Hall Park) beginning at 1:30 pm.

Immediately after the concerts in New York, Chanticleer returns to home territory - San Francisco's Bay Area - to begin an extensive series of concerts throughout California.  Chanticleer's performance on December 10 at the First Congregational Church in Berkeley will be recorded live in concert by American Public Media (APM), the nation's largest distributor of classical music programming.  The one-hour program, entitled A Chanticleer Christmas, will be hosted by Brian Newhouse, host of SymphonyCast, APM's weekly broadcast from the world's great concert halls.  Affiliate stations of American Public Media will air the program beginning December 17 (check local listings and visit www.americanpublicmedia.org for further details).

Among the many other highlights of Chanticleer's California holiday swing is a return engagement on Tuesday, December 18 at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.  The performance coincides with the beginning of a high-profile promotion with Apple iTunes, where the popular music provider will offer a free sample track of Let It Snow - specifically, "Ding Dong Merrily on High" - for download, through December 27.  iTunes only ever offers one free track at a time in its long-standing "Single of the Week" promotion so, for a full week, "Ding Dong Merrily on High" will be the only free single on offer (yes, that includes all popular music and other genres!), and will likely introduce the Chanticleer sound - the famed "orchestra of voices" - to many new listeners.  Appropriately, on Monday, December 17 (from 6 to 7 pm), the day before the iTunes promotion begins, Chanticleer will sing holiday songs in a special performance at San Francisco's Apple Store (One Stockton Street).

Finally, Rhino/Warner Classics has announced a special additional way to ring in the holidays with Chanticleer: text CHANTI to 74466 to obtain Chanticleer's "Ding Dong Merrily On High" as a ringtone!

A track list for Let It Snow and a list of Chanticleer's holiday concert dates follow.
