Joshua Roman gets set for his Big Date

On September 28th Joshua Roman performs the premiere of Derek Bermel's Sonata Humana for Cello at Seattle's Town Hall, where he is artistic director of the adventurous chamber music series, TownMusic. Later in the series, Roman presents the Jack Quartet in music by Gesualdo, and unveils a new solo cello suite by Gabriela Lena Frank. But right now Roman is concentrating on a very big date where his partner isn't his cello: his wedding on October 3rd. Then the 26-year-old groom hits the road for these and other 2010-11 season highlights:

•    Oct. 23: Heineken City Arts Festival (WA); multimedia project with DJ Spooky, Odeon Quartet
•    Nov. 5 & 6: New Philharmonic (IL); Dvorak Cello Cto. with Kirk Muspratt, cond.
•    Jan. 20-22: Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra (MI): Elgar Cello Cto. with Octavio Mas-Arocas, cond.
•    April 16: Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (IL); Haydn: Cello Cto., Tchaikovsky "Rococo Variations" with Kirk Trevor, cond.
•    May 8: Everett Philharmonic (WA); Brahms "Double" Cto. with James Garlick, cond.
