Soprano Mikayla Sager Joins the Roster

We are pleased to announce the worldwide general management of Mikayla Sager.
The Canadian lirico-spinto soprano has been praised by the San Francisco Chronicle as “an extraordinarily gifted young soprano,” lauded for her combination of “intensity and hushed majesty.” A recent Adler Fellow with San Francisco Opera, she appeared in the company’s centennial season as Der Hüter der Schwelle des Tempels in Die Frau ohne Schatten with Sir Donald Runnicles, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Sister Felicité in Dialogues des Carmélites, and Image No. 1 in Gabriela Lena Frank’s El último sueño de Frida y Diego. She also covered Violetta (La Traviata) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni).

Sager has sung Mimì (La Bohème) with San Francisco Opera, UC Davis Symphony at the Mondavi Center, and Opera San Jose, where she returned in 2024. Her concert repertoire includes Poulenc’s Stabat Mater, Verdi’s Requiem, and Beethoven’s Ah, perfido! with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. Upcoming engagements include Violetta, Nedda (Pagliacci), and Verdi’s Requiem.

A 2022 Maria Manetti-Shrem Prize winner, she has also appeared as Fiordiligi, Vitellia, Micaëla, Donna Anna, Pamina, and Norina, the latter prompting Opera Canada to praise her “edgy intensity” and “enviable acting skills.”

Sager is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music and a prizewinner in numerous competitions, including the Tenor Viñas, Elizabeth Connell, and Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
