Jeremy Denk
The Oregonian

Jeremy Denk, July 15: Part daredevil, part poet, the 37-year-old New York pianist took listeners to the edge of the cliff with Charles Ives chaotic "Concord" Sonata and Beethoven's thundering "Hammerklavier" Sonata. His touch was so clear and purposeful, we detected his thinking at each step and emerged changed, but unharmed.
