Soprano Meghan Kasanders has been hailed by Opera News as “a wonderfully promising, rich dramatic soprano.” Highlights of the 26/27 season include debuts with Anchorage Opera in La bohème (Mimì) and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra in Mozart’s Requiem, and returns to the Eugene Symphony for Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder.

Last season, Meghan returned to The Dallas Opera for Don Carlo (A Heavenly Voice; Elisabetta cover). On the concert stage, she appeared with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 and debuted with the Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago in its opening season concert. A passionate supporter of contemporary works, she also participated in several opera workshops with Chicago Opera Theater.

In the 24/25 season, she debuted with Arizona Opera in La finta giardiniera (Arminda) and returned to Chicago Opera Theater for Bohème and Beyond: The Legacy of Puccini. She also returned to Opera Saratoga for a workshop of Robert Whalen, Mark Steidl, and Katherine Skovira’s The Other Side of Silence (Grace).

In the 23/24 season, Meghan debuted with The Dallas Opera in Elektra (Fünfte Magd), Lyric Opera of Kansas City in Journey to Valhalla (Sieglinde), and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln, conducted by Fabio Luisi. She also presented a recital produced by Carnegie Hall Citywide in New York City and participated in an American Lyric Theater orchestral workshop of Johanny Navarro and Marcus Yi’s Working for the Macbeths (Lady Macbeth).

Past engagement highlights include debuts with Virginia Opera in Die Walküre (Sieglinde) and Opera Columbus in Don Giovanni (Donna Anna), as well as returns to Staatsoper Hannover for Hänsel und Gretel (Gertrud), Opera Columbus for Fellow Travelers (Mary Johnson), and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis for Gianni Schicchi (Nella) and The Magic Flute (First Lady). On the concert stage, Meghan made her debut with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and returned to Des Moines Metro Opera as a guest soloist in A Concert for Robert.

Meghan made her role debut in Anna Bolena (title role) with Baltimore Concert Opera and her European debut with Staatsoper Hannover in Hänsel und Gretel (Gertrud). She made her Carnegie Hall debut in Bernstein’s Songfest with the Juilliard Orchestra under the direction of Marin Alsop and debuted at Opera Saratoga in its critically acclaimed production of The Consul (Magda). Additional performances include Sibelius’ Luonnotar at Alice Tully Hall under the baton of Barbara Hannigan and Don Giovanni (Donna Anna) at The Juilliard School.

Ms. Kasanders was a Grand Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and is a First Prize and Audience Choice winner of the Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition. She has also been recognized by the Gerda Lissner Foundation and the Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition, where she received Second Prize and Audience Choice, and won First Prize at the Mildred Miller International Voice Competition as the competition’s youngest participant.

Meghan’s training includes resident artist apprenticeships with the International Meistersinger Akademie in Neumarkt, Germany; Opera Theatre of Saint Louis; Des Moines Metro Opera; Opera Saratoga; and Dolora Zajick’s Institute for Young Dramatic Voices. Ms. Kasanders holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Simpson College, a Master of Music degree from Rice University, and an Artist Diploma in Opera Studies from The Juilliard School, where she was a recipient of the Richard F. Gold Career Grant.
