Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Feinstein begins the 23/24 season with a role and theater debut at Oper Wuppertal in a new production of Tristan und Isolde (Brangäne). On the concert stage she will debut with The Cleveland Orchestra in Die Zauberflöte (Zweite Dame) conducted by Franz Walser-Möst. Last season she joined the roster of The Metropolitan Opera for Norma, and debuted with Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in Elektra (Dritte Magd) and Oregon Bach Festival in Penderecki’s Credo.

As a member of the Ensemble at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Jennifer was seen in Grafin Mariza (Manja), Gianni Schicchi (La Ciesca), Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira), Prologue of Ariadne auf Naxos (Prima Donna), Roberto Devereux (Sara), Les contes d’Hoffmann (Giulietta & Stella), Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Berta), Anna Bolena (Giovanna Seymour), Elektra  (Dritte Magd), and The Cunning Little Vixen (Owl). Additionally, she sang the American premiere of Korngold’s Das Wunder der Heliane (Die Botin) at Bard Summerscape Festival.

Becoming increasingly coveted for her portrayals of the dramatic mezzo repertoire, Ms. Feinstein made two role debuts in La Gioconda (Laura) with the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, and La forza del Destino (Preziosilla) with Theater Augsburg. Other recent engagements include her theater and role debut in Cavalleria Rusticana (Santuzza) with Theater Münster (later also at Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater), covering in Aida (Amneris) for the Pacific Symphony, performing with Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern in Eugene Onegin (Olga) and Rigoletto (Maddalena), singing title role in Carmen and Norma (Adalgisa) with St. Petersburg Opera, and joining the roster of Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to cover in Mario Martone’s new production of Henze’s The Bassarids (Agave). She also performed the title role in Bizet’s Djamileh for Beethoven Easter Festival, the recording of which was commercially released in 2018.t

Other career operatic highlights include appearances with Spoleto Festival USA, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Opera Orchestra of New York, Sarasota Opera, Opera Memphis, Chautauqua Opera, and the Caramoor Festival. She has also been seen on the concert stage in Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, and Prokoviev’s Alexander Nevsky, with such orchestras as the Richmond Symphony, Orchestra at St. Luke’s, American Symphony Orchestra, Oratorio Society of New York, Symphoria!, and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.

Jennifer was a National Semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and has received awards from the Marilyn Horne Foundation Competition, Opera Index, and Gerda Lissner Competitions. She received both her Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, a Master of Music from the Yale University School of Music and was a Fellow at the Music Academy of the West.
