Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Feinstein has been praised for her “unforced sound from a mellow bottom to a ringing top” and her ability to deliver “emotionally-wrenching and beautiful arias,” showcasing a wide-ranging and earthy instrument.

Highlights of her 25/26 season include debuts with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in a staged production of Die Zauberflöte (Zweite Dame) conducted by Stéphane Denève and Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería for a recording of Salome (Ein Page der Herodias) conducted by Alex Prior.

Recent engagements include Tristan und Isolde (Brangäne) at Oper Wuppertal, Le prophète (Fidès) at Bard SummerScape directed by Christian Räth, and joining the roster of The Metropolitan Opera for Nabucco. On the concert stage, she debuted with The Cleveland Orchestra in Die Zauberflöte (Zweite Dame) conducted by Franz Welser-Möst. She previously joined The Metropolitan Opera roster for Norma and has appeared with Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in Elektra (Dritte Magd) and with the Oregon Bach Festival in Penderecki’s Credo.

As a member of the ensemble at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Ms. Feinstein’s repertoire included Gräfin Mariza (Manja), Gianni Schicchi (La Ciesca), Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira), Ariadne auf Naxos (Prima Donna), Roberto Devereux (Sara), Les contes d’Hoffmann (Giulietta & Stella), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Berta), Anna Bolena (Giovanna Seymour), Elektra (Dritte Magd), and The Cunning Little Vixen (Owl). She also sang the American premiere of Korngold’s Das Wunder der Heliane (Die Botin) at Bard SummerScape.

Increasingly in demand for the dramatic mezzo repertoire, she has made notable role debuts in La Gioconda (Laura) with Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck and La forza del destino (Preziosilla) with Theater Augsburg. Other engagements include her role and house debut in Cavalleria rusticana (Santuzza) with Theater Münster (also with Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater), covering Aida (Amneris) for Pacific Symphony, and performing with Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern in Eugene Onegin (Olga) and Rigoletto (Maddalena). She has sung Carmen (title role) and Norma (Adalgisa) with St. Petersburg Opera, joined Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to cover The Bassarids (Agave) in Mario Martone’s new production, and performed Djamileh (title role) at the Beethoven Easter Festival, later released commercially.

Earlier career highlights include appearances with Spoleto Festival USA, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Opera Orchestra of New York, Sarasota Opera, Opera Memphis, Chautauqua Opera, and the Caramoor Festival. On the concert stage, she has performed Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, and Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky with orchestras including the Richmond Symphony, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, American Symphony Orchestra, Oratorio Society of New York, Symphoria!, and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.

Ms. Feinstein was a National Semi-Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a prizewinner in the Marilyn Horne Foundation Competition, Opera Index, and Gerda Lissner Competitions. She holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, a Master of Music from the Yale University School of Music, and was a Fellow at the Music Academy of the West.
