Canadian soprano Simone Osborne has been praised as “a joy to hear” (Los Angeles Times) with “a sweet and clear sound, sensitive phrasing and gleaming sustained high notes” (New York Times). One of the youngest winners of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Osborne continues to earn acclaim for her vivid stage presence and vocal artistry.

In the 25/26 season, she returns to the Canadian Opera Company in Werther (Sophie) and to Calgary Opera in Hänsel und Gretel (Gretel). Recent engagements include debuts with Scottish Opera in Don Pasquale (Norina) and Calgary Opera in L’elisir d’amore (Adina), as well as a return to the Canadian Opera Company in Don Pasquale (Norina).

Career highlights include her debut at Oper Frankfurt in A Village Romeo and Juliet (Juliet) under Elias Grandy; a New Year’s Day concert with the Victoria Symphony; and performances in Die Zauberflöte (Pamina) in Robert Lepage’s production at both Festival d’opéra de Québec and Pacific Opera Victoria under Thomas Rösner. She also appeared in Louis Riel (Marguerite Riel) at the National Arts Centre and Opéra de Québec. She returned to Oper Frankfurt in La serva padrona (Serpina) and to the Canadian Opera Company in Hänsel und Gretel (Gretel) conducted by Johannes Debus.

A graduate of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio, Osborne has since returned to the company in numerous roles, including L’elisir d’amore (Adina), Carmen (Micaëla), Falstaff (Nannetta, in Carsen’s production), Un ballo in maschera (Oscar), La bohème (Musetta), Rigoletto (Gilda, in Christopher Alden’s production), Gianni Schicchi (Lauretta) under Sir Andrew Davis, and Die Zauberflöte (Pamina) under Debus. During her Ensemble tenure, she appeared in Idomeneo (Ilia) under Harry Bicket, Carmen (Frasquita), Maria Stuarda (Anne Kennedy), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina) on tour, and performed Stravinsky’s Pribaoutki in the premiere of The Nightingale and Other Short Fables directed by Lepage.

In her hometown of Vancouver, Osborne has appeared with Vancouver Opera in Rigoletto (Gilda), Roméo et Juliette (Juliette), and Die Zauberflöte (Pamina). She has joined the Vancouver Symphony and Vancouver Bach Choirs for Messiah, and gave a recital for the Music in the Morning series. On the concert stage, she toured 15 U.S. cities with the Metropolitan Opera Rising Stars series, returned to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and a program of opera arias, and made her debut with the Berkeley Symphony in Berlioz’s Les nuits d’été.

Osborne made her role debut in Lucia di Lammermoor (Lucia) at Edmonton Opera. In concert, she has performed Honegger’s Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher (Marguerite) with Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, and Orchestre de Paris under Kazuki Yamada, and with the New York Philharmonic under Alan Gilbert.
