GALLIM is a home for the exchange of movement wisdom through the three pillars of art-making, education, and community-building. Founded in 2007 by groundbreaking choreographer Andrea Miller, GALLIM nurtures creative careers and stimulates the imagination of worldwide audiences through performance, education, and innovation in dance.
GALLIM’s critically acclaimed performance history of national and international performance seasons includes interdisciplinary dance theater and site-specific works as well as collaborations in film, theater, fashion, music, and brands. GALLIM’s performances and touring include renowned venues such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Met Breuer, The Guggenheim Museum, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, The Joyce, BAM, Jacob’s Pillow, Spoleto USA, Sadler’s Wells, Royal Opera House, V&A London, Théâtre National de Chaillot de Paris, Grand Theatre de la Ville de Luxembourg, Tanz Bremen, Teatre Grec in Barcelona, Teatros Del Canal, Frieze Festival, Art Basel, Philip Johnson’s Glass House, Grace Farms, Hermès, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, and Vogue. Miller’s recent commissions include the pandemic responsive YOU ARE HERE, a sculpture, sound, and performance installation for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, as well as New York City Ballet, English National Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, Ailey II, and The Juilliard School.
GALLIM continues to advance its dedication to movement education and community building through the GALLIM School of Movement, Moving Artist Residencies for early career and parent movement artists. The GALLIM School of Movement is a nexus of students, educators, and artists sharing movement knowledge, creative methodologies, and expression through free and low-cost studies in dance training, dancemaking, the collaborative process, film for dance, and professional development.
ANDREA MILLER is a choreographer, creative director, and founder of the internationally renowned multidisciplinary organization GALLIM. A Hispanic creator and collaborator for dance, film, fashion, and the visual arts, Miller is known for her exploration of the essential elements of human behavior and the alchemy of movement and performance. Miller is a Guggenheim, Sadler’s Wells, New York City Center, and Princess Grace Fellow, and was featured in Forbes as an entrepreneur and leader in the dance world. She is the first choreographer to be named Artist in Residence at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, creating two large scale works for The Temple of Dendur and the fifth floor of The Met Breuer. Her visual art collaborations include a sound, sculpture, and performance installation for Lincoln Center processing the pandemic as well as works for The Glass House, Art Basel, Frieze Festival, Grace Farms, and Grand Central Station.
Miller’s dance works are presented by leading institutions and festivals around the world including Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, City Center, The Joyce, Jacob’s Pillow, BAM, Royal Albert Hall, Sadler’s Wells, London Royal Opera House, Théâtre National de Chaillot, Teatre Grec of Barcelona, Theaterhaus Stuttgart, Canal Madrid, Teatro Nacional de Panamá, DanceHouse Vancouver, Spoleto Festival, and others.
Recent dance commissions include English National Ballet, New York City Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company, Bern Ballet, Noord Nederland Dans, Pennsylvania Ballet, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, Rambert2, Ailey II, and The Juilliard School.
Film collaborations include celebrated directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, Xavier Dolan, Ezra Hurwitz, Bat-Sheva Guez, and long time collaborator Ben Stamper.
Her collaborations in fashion and brands include multiple projects with Hermès as well as VOGUE, Bergdorf and Goodman, SportsMax, KSwiss, Lacoste, Target, Calvin Klein, Crate & Barrel, SLS Hotels Miami and Las Vegas, and Beautiful Destinations. Miller serves on the board of Chelsea Factory and The Doris Humphrey Foundation.
Miller’s repertory, creative methodology and dance training have been taught through the GALLIM School of Movement as well as The Juilliard School, NYU, UC Kaufman, Harvard, Barnard, Marymount Manhattan, and others. She has been Adjunct Professor at Marymount Manhattan College and Barnard, and is currently guest faculty at The Juilliard School, where she is an alumna.
