Avi Avital’s Between Worlds ensemble explores diverse geographical regions, cultures, and traditions through a series of boundary-crossing concerts. For their North American tour, they will present a single program, Song of the Birds, inspired by Avi’s latest Deutsche Grammophon recording (2025). The program features Manuel de Falla’s Cuatro Piezas Españolas (Andaluza), alongside music from Southern Italy, the Iberian Peninsula, and the Black Sea—traversing the space between classical and folk idioms.
Avi and his ensemble invite audiences on a captivating musical journey that celebrates the richness and variety of global musical traditions—traversing the space between classical and folk idioms and illuminating the vibrant sounds, rhythms, and stories of cultures from across the world. The concert also features Alessia Tondo, a master of pizzica tarantata, whose mesmerizing artistry brings the energy and passion of Salento’s iconic song-and-dance tradition to life.
Avi Avital and the Between Worlds ensemble have been residents at Berlin’s Boulez Saal and were featured as a highlight of last summer’s BBC Proms. They have also brought this program to leading festivals and venues across Europe, including the Frankfurt Alte Oper, the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, the Enescu Festival, and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
