Vienna Boys and Girls Choirs Sing Concerts for Charity

VOICES FOR CHILDREN: A CONCERT FOR CHILDREN’S RIGHTS
To mark International Children’s Rights Day on November 20, the Vienna Girls Choir and the Vienna Boys Choir are holding a joint charity concert to send a strong message of solidarity among children. The concert, held in aid of UNICEF, the Austrian Child Protection Association and the World Childhood Foundation, is under the patronage of the Mayor of Vienna, Dr Michael Ludwig. It will begin at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of Vienna City Hall.

The UN adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989. Children’s rights require continued attention, and the choirs hope to attract a large audience to the concert.

MUSIC FOR HOPE
For the second time, the Vienna Boys Choir joined forces with Caritas Jordan and the Madrasati Initiative to carry out the Music for Hope project – a humanitarian music program funded by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior.

As part of this program, they held workshops for Jordanian musicians and Syrian refugees in Amman and Vienna. In addition, over the past two years, Syrian teachers have been trained to offer extracurricular music lessons to children and young people in the Zaatari refugee camp near the Syrian border. More than 400 children, mainly in the camp, have already been given access to music.

The project will conclude on November 22, 2025 with a concert in Amman, where a choir of the Vienna Boys Choir will perform on stage together with Syrian children from Amman and Irbid.
