In their latest release, the Viano Quartet\u2014one of today\u2019s most dynamic young string ensembles\u2014pays homage to NASA\u2019s Voyager Program, which launched two spacecraft in 1977 on a mission to explore the farthest reaches of our solar system.<\/p>\n
The album\u2019s program reflects a spirit of curiosity, connection, and cosmic wonder. As violist Aiden Kane notes in the liner notes, \u201cMusic is the best way we can communicate with each other and with our universe.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the heart of the recording is Beethoven\u2019s String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat Major, Op. 130, performed with its original, monumental finale: the Gro\u00dfe Fuge. A work of profound intensity and complexity, it includes the deeply personal Cavatina\u2014the very piece chosen to represent humanity on the Voyager Golden Record, sent into space as a musical message to the stars.<\/p>\n
