Canadian Brass, Opus 3 Artists, and M\u00fcnchenMusik are delighted to announce the appointment of trumpeter Ashley Hall-Tighe to the world\u2019s pre-eminent brass quintet. Ashley, an accomplished international soloist, Principal Trumpet of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and faculty member at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, becomes the second-ever woman to join Canadian Brass after Manon LaFrance, a member from 2006-2010 and now the Director of the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal.<\/p>\n
The Brass first met Ashley in 2001 when she was a standout performer in their chamber music residency at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California. That same summer, Ashley was the winner of the Academy\u2019s Concerto Competition, an extraordinary achievement amongst formidable competition, including several now very well-known violinists and pianists.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was evident from our very first meeting back then that Ashley was a star in the making. Her engaging music making combined with her charismatic presence made a lasting impression on all of us, and it has been a joy to watch her career flourish since then. This summer, we reunited with Ashley as she recorded with us for our new arena-concert endeavor Andemica with Emmy-award winning writer Dave Pierce. She immediately became the obvious choice to join our musical journey\u201c said Joe Burgstaller, long-time Canadian Brass member and Ashley\u2019s new trumpet partner.<\/p>\n
In Ashley\u2019s own words, \u201cJoining Canadian Brass feels like a dream come true. I remember standing on stage in 2001 with Chuck, Gene, Joe, Jeff and Ryan thinking, \u2018Wouldn\u2019t it be incredible to be in a chamber group like Canadian Brass one day?\u2019 Consistent to my journey over the past two decades is my desire to connect deeply with audiences through the gift of music. I want to be doing this at the highest level possible, which is why my \u2018yes\u2019 to becoming the newest member of Canadian Brass was an easy decision to make. I am thrilled to be joining this special group of artists and to be bringing this music to audiences around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
