In a banner weekend for music lovers, Central Florida got a glimpse of the future — plus was reminded how our local Bach Festival orchestra and Orlando Philharmonic can hold their own with virtuosic talent.

The Phil’s stirring concert featured 12-year-old pianist Harmony Zhu, who amazed with not only her technical chops but her musicality as well. Meanwhile, guest conductor Pablo Rus Broseta led the Phil through a soul-lifting Beethoven’s 7th.

Guest conductor Pablo Rus Broseta led the Phil through a soul-lifting Beethoven’s 7th. [It] opened with sparkling promise and finished with a delightful brightness of sound. The second movement’s mournful melody had an almost hypnotic effect, while the low strings provided a beautiful whisper of sadness. Just lovely.
