A passionate interpretation of this evergreen concerto. Album of the Weekend, 26-27 April 2014.

The brilliant American cellist Alisa Weilerstein follows her critically acclaimed Decca debut recording of Elgar's Cello Concerto with a deeply felt new interpretation of Dvorak's Cello Concerto, accompanied by some of his other best-known melodies. These include the haunting melody from his New World Symphony, the beautiful 'Silent Woods' and 'Songs My Mother Taught Me'.

Weilerstein's recording casts new light on the popular concerto, drawing out all of its passion. Strong support is given by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra under its Music Director, Jiøí Bìlohlávek. It was all recorded in Prague's Rudolfinum, where Dvorak himself conducted the Czech Philharmonic's inaugural concert in 1896.
