An exceptionally diverse group of local artists and arts advocates will be honored on Nov. 17 by the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.

The honorees include a record-breaking maestro, a wine company that also enjoys song and a school for the deaf that produces professional actors.

The annual awards recognize noteworthy track records of service in Rochester's arts community. The following recipients were just announced:

Christopher Seaman — Lifetime Achievement Award. He will retire as the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's music director next summer after 13 seasons — longer than any other RPO leader. The British conductor will be succeeded by Norwegian maestro Arild Remmereit.

"Seaman has made a remarkable impact on the community with his conducting and pre-concert chats," said Council president Sarah Lentini.
