This season bass-baritone Keith Miller will continue to develop his relationship with the Metropolitan Opera when he appears in their new productions of Carmen, Armida, and Tosca. He recently appeared in their productions of Salome and Madama Butterfly, both of which were broadcast live in HD around the world, and as Monterone in Rigoletto. He also sang in their Summer Recital Series in various parks in New York City.
A recent graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts, Mr. Miller appeared there as Leporello and Masetto in Don Giovanni, Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore, Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro. Other recent opera engagements have included his role and house debut as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Florida Grand Opera, roles in War and Peace, Ernani, Macbeth, Faust, Rigoletto, Eugene Onegin, Andrea Chenier, and Gianni Schicchi at the Metropolitan Opera; Monterone, the Bonze in Madama Butterfly, and Ramphis in Aida at the Portland Opera; Leporello, Monterone and Sparafucile in Rigoletto and Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia with the Crested Butte Music Festival; Alidoro in La Cenerentola with the Fargo-Moorhead Opera, the Bonze with Emerald City Opera, Colline in La Bohème with the Poughkeepsie Opera, and Don Alfonso with Oberlin in Italy.
In concert, Mr. Miller’s recent engagements include Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Fanshawe Chorus London in Ontario, Colline in a concert version of La Bohème with the Rockford Symphony, and Handel’s Messiah with the Chamber Opera of Philadelphia. He also recently did a week long residency with the Savannah Children’s Choir that culminated in a recital and performance with the choir.
Before pursuing his career as singer, Mr. Miller played professional football for 5 years and had the honor of being an Olympic Torch Bearer for the 1996 Games in Atlanta.
