American tenor Jason Collins has begun to attract international attention as one of the new, young heldentenors to watch. This season he makes his debuts in Turin as the title role in Parsifal and at La Monnaie in Brussels in a performance of Das Klagenlied. He also returns to the Glimmerglass Festival as Giasone in Medea and the Opera Company of Philadelphia as Cassio in Otello, and appears in concert at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.  

Mr. Collins recently made his debuts at the San Francisco Opera as Froh in Das Rheingold, the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Tichon in Katya Kabanová, and both the Teatro Comunale in Bolgona and the Boston Lyric Opera as the title role in Idomeneo.  He has appeared all over the U.S. in opera companies such as the Pittsburgh Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Seattle Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, Chicago Opera Theater, Bard Music Festival, Arizona Opera and Ft. Worth Opera. His many roles include the title roles in Parsifal, Idomeneo, Don Carlos, and The Rake’s Progress; Froh in Das Rheingold, Siegmund in Die Walküre, Erik in Die Fliegende Holländer, Tambour Major in Wozzeck, Malcolm in Macbeth, Narraboth in Salome, Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw, Zinovy in Lady Macbeth of Mtsenk, Anatol in Vanessa, Lenksi in Eugene Onegin, Chevalier de la Force in Dialogues des Carmélites, Jove in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, and Nerone in L’incoronazione di Poppea.
