This season, tenor Mr. Porretta makes his debuts at the Florida Grand Opera as Calaf in Turandot and at the Washington National Opera as Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera. He also returns to the Pittsburgh Opera as Calaf and the Tulsa Opera as Pollione in Norma. He recently made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Calaf, and the Canadian Opera Company as the title role in Otello.  Other recent North American Opera engagements have included his house and role debut as the title role in Don Carlos at the Cincinnati Opera, and his house and role debut the title role in Samson et Dahlila at the Pittsburgh Opera.

Mr. Porretta recently returned to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as the title role in Otello. He sang the same role for his European debut in 2002 at the Teatro Maestranza in Seville. He has since appeared at the Berliner Staatsoper, Staatsoper Hamburg, Sächsische Staatsoper  (Dresden), Bayerische Staatsoper, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, L’Opera de Nice, L'Opera de Montpellier, Teatro Real (Madrid), Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Massimo in Palermo and Opera Australia.
