This season, American tenor Frank Porretta makes his debut at the NCPA in China as the title role in
Otello. He recently appeared at the Cincinnati Opera as Canio in
I Pagliacci and the the Washington National Opera as Cavaradossi in
Tosca and the Austin Lyric Opera as Calaf in
Turandot.
Mr. Porretta recently returned to the Deutsche Oper Berlin in
Otello, which he also sang for his European debut in 2002 at the Teatro Maestranza in Seville. He has since appeared at the Berliner Staatsoper, Staatsoper Hamburg, Sächsische Staatsoper (Dresden), Bayerische Staatsoper, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, L’Opera de Nice, L'Opera de Montpellier, Teatro Real (Madrid), Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Massimo in Palermo and Opera Australia. A native of New York, Mr. Porretta received his musical training at the Juilliard School of Music.
